We are extension table experts, and not simply a manufacturer. The following details are the result of four decades of making solid wood extension tables.
Base size is 40" wide x 44" long.
Edge profile is 30° in towards bottom, 4" side aprons (straight at bottom), legs from 2-1/4" solid stock.The slides are very heavy duty and open 60" irregardless of how many leaves you order. A center leg is totally unnecessary with all our extension tables. The metal slides operate without any binding or impedance and the top sections clip together with attached spring clips to prevent the table from wiggling open in use.
Our leaf inserts are18" wide, providing for two persons on each side with each leaf.
Extension leaves have 3-1/2" aprons fixed in place, ensuring the leaves stay flat since they are solid wood just as the rest of the top.
Table top finish is four coats of Acid Cured Urethane, not to be confused with hardware store Polyurethane in one can. AC Urethane is waterproof, resistant to warm and even hot liquids although I do not want to guarantee the hot part.I put hot pans on my table at home, abusing it to find its limits, but prefer to honor the wood and avoid actual heat. Alcohol does not affect the finish, nor does paint thinner. Acetone of Fingernail polish remover will damage the finish.We apply four coats of AC-U, sanding the surface down in between each coat to achieve a partial filled grain effect.
Each made individually, our tables are designed to aesthetically compliment our dining chairs and match their craftsmanship and beauty. Our finish of two part Urethane provides beauty and is impervious to any amount of hot or cold liquid, as well as being resistant to scratches and unaffected by common chemicals such as alcohol or cleansers. We do not stain our woods (unless requested, upcharge applies), allowing its' natural beauty and color to shine through. Legs are removable for shipping.
